Small Moments of Self Love

Self love is something we have to work at every day. It’s a series of tiny, wonderful things you do to continue showing up for yourself. Making time for these little moments throughout your day is so important when it comes to maintaining your health and happiness.

Every face mask is a love letter to the future you. Every super cute selfie you take is an acknowledgement that you’re the main character of your own life. Every time you unfollow an ex on Instagram (good riddance), you’re investing in your own growth. And we love to see it.

Of course, our favourite form of self love is self pleasure. We might be a little biased, but it’s good for your skin, your stress, and for your self confidence. We’re all about empowering you to love yourself, so let’s make sure to take a moment to focus, give ourselves a mental hug, and start practising these little acts of self love:

  1. Get some fresh air
The outside world will do wonders. Grab a cup of tea and go sit outside, or throw your headphones in and go for a walk.

  2. Meditate
Give yourself a chance to slow down with some meditation. There’s a bunch of options for guided meditations now, whether you need to relax, refocus, or just want an excuse to listen to Harry Styles telling you to breathe. (No really, there’s a Harry Styles meditation. Do with that information what you will.)

  3. Change your sheets
There’s nothing quite as comforting or refreshing as snuggling down to sleep in freshly washed bedding.

  4. Tell someone you love them
Call your mum, text your bestie, slide into Zac Efron’s DM’s; it doesn’t matter how, but make time to feel grateful for the people you love, and let them know about it. It feels good to spread good vibes! Speaking of good vibes...

  5. Have an orgasm
Take some time to love yourself. (Hey, we can help with this! hEY, WE CAN HELP WITH THIS! Thank us later.) Self pleasure is so underrated as a form of self care.

  6. Put your phone down (after you’ve finished reading this, obvs)
The world won’t stop turning if you’re not there to watch it. It can be draining being constantly connected to streams of information. Pop your phone down for a bit and give your brain a break from having to be ‘on’ all the time. Brad from Bumble will survive if it takes you a little longer to respond.

  7. Do that thing you love
This one might be obvious, but what do you enjoy? Reading? Painting? Rhythmic gymnastics? Bird watching? Sitting on the floor of the shower blasting Adele? Go do that. Make space for things you enjoy just because you like doing them.

  8. Do a face mask
It’s a classic for a reason. Show your skin some love whilst you relax.

  9. Stop for a bit
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t always have to be doing something. Sometimes it’s good for the soul to just pull out a blanket and lay in the sun. Take a moment to just exist without trying to achieve something.

  10.  Speak kindly to yourself
It’s easy for us to be cruel to ourselves. Make an effort to associate part of your daily routine, like when you brush your teeth, or whenever you open the fridge, with saying something positive about yourself. You could congratulate yourself for remembering to send Nan’s birthday card, acknowledge that your eyebrows are killing it today, or remind yourself that every dog you’ve ever met has loved you. Your roommate will just have to get used to you praising yourself out loud.

At the end of the day, self love is all about you and what makes you feel good. It isn’t a big, momentous thing; it’s the many ways you look after yourself every day, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
